October 24 – Non-Profit Fundraising Tips
Tri-State Advertising & Marketing Professionals will host an educational luncheon that will discuss successful fundraising techniques for non-profit organizations.
The event will feature guest speaker Deborah Maevers, founder and executive director of the VintageNOW fashion show. VintageNOW is a fundraising event that strives to bring awareness to domestic violence, drawing well over 1,000 attendees each year. In 2016, the event raised over $80,000 for survivors of domestic violence. All proceeds go to the Safe House for Women – a non-profit organization based out of Cape Girardeau, MO. This year, the VintageNOW fashion show will be held on October 21 at the Osage Center.
The event will also feature guest speaker Melanie Baxter, co-chair of the Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau Heels 2 Heal 5K for Haiti committee. She also serves on several other Zonta committees, including Advocacy, Service and Public Relations. The Heels 2 Heal 5K is the Zonta Club’s primary fundraising event for their annual medical and dental service trips, and the race in September 2017 raised over $7,000, with all proceeds going toward the necessary supplies.
Attendees will hear how these organizations raise funds for their events, which in turn helps fund their core mission. Guest speakers will discuss what goes into organizing a fundraiser, as well as the challenges they faced and successful strategies for overcoming them.
This event will take place at My Daddy’s Cheesecake in Cape Girardeau, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Admission for members is $15 ($12 for students) and $20 for non-members. Due to limited seating, only 30 tickets are available for this event. Attendees are encouraged to register early to guarantee admission.
